Aftermath of the 1864 cyclone in Calcutta. Over 200 sea-going ships were anchored in the harbour, and scarcely half a dozen kept their moorings or anchorage. This calamity made the port authorities take precautionary measures regarding the mooring of ships, which may still be in force.
