Yes Mike, thats the one, unfortunately it has claimed about ten boats, not all this size, since being built in the early 90s, due to the lack off a sheltered harbour. Castlebay is the second largest harbour in the Western isles next to Stornoway, but has no fisheries pier, the only pier left is now a CalMac pier and of no use to and local boats. A far cry from the herring days, I have an old map showing 14 herring landing stations in the bay. Have you visited Mike?
Regards Donald.
Donald - Yes I was up there a few years ago, had a great time and wish we could have stayed longer, met that fella that now has the Brighter Morn. After meeting up with him and his family on the IOM a several years previous. You boys should have a better harbour at Castlebay. Your map of the herring stations sounds very interesting, it is nice to see you can still identify where some of these stations were. Oh for a nice early season herring, pickled or kippered - my mouth waters!!!!!!!!!!! - Mike
