Don't know much about the ship but the floatplane is a DH Beaver. Since its inception many years ago the Beaver has probably handled the bulk of the coastal and bush flying on the the West Coast of Canada (B.C.). They are not manufactured anymore but there are many still around and very well looked after. Great little plane.

The ship is a former Russian polar research vessel that has been converted to carry 48 passengers on polar expedition cruises.
