"Akaroa" (1959, 20348 grt) Built for Royal Mail Lines as "Amazon". From 1968-71 "Akaroa" Shaw Savill: typical 3 month voyage London, Las Palmas, Cape Town, Durban, Fremantle, Melbourne, Sydney, Auckland/ Auckland, Rarotonga, Tahiti, Balboa, Curaçao, Trinidad, Azores, London. Accommodation for about 450 Tourist class passengers. Sold to Hoegh-Ugland for conversion to car carrier 1971.

The Akaroa spent several weeks going around New Zealand as did the did sister ships Aranda and Arawa. I think they used to load frozen meat for the UK. ( What a great Voyage holiday in 2) 1 a round the world voyage and 2 visiting a number of New Zealand ports.
