Aker Mekaniske Verksted 1931

Aker Mekaniske Verksted 1931

Aker yard in 1931. One of the three ships has got a readable name, the innermost one is called Dageid. The catcher has homeport Tønsberg and is named Hav (ocean), perhaps with a number appended. The one in the middle has a name hard to discern, I will see if I can find something in my book on the ya

Yes, it is such an odd looking ship that there can be no doubt about it. She must be in for repairs though, as I found the build year 1931 for the other two, and this one is said to have been built, as you note, in 1926. https://www.krigsseilerregisteret.no/no/skip/4997/ Looks like an engine is working, there is a spout of cooling water on her side... I think. Odd name she has as as well, even though there were a number of ships given the same - it means "chain mail armour".

The foredeck and the forecastle of the Dageid is filled with people btw., I had not noticed that until now. She does not look as if her launch was recent or imminent though...
