The AMERA, the former ROYAL VIKING SUN, SEABOURN SUN, PRINSENDAM looks great in the Phoenix Reisen colours, it really suits her well and she looks so much better with her original white hull. Phoenix Reisen did quite a bit of her to her during the refit at the Blohm & Voss shipyard in Hamburg and she definitely looks updated from her time as the PRINSENDAM.

Sixteen of the rooms will be deluxe verandas and two will be slightly smaller verandas. Four will be standard insides. Passenger capacity will increase to 837 from 793. HAL said the new staterooms will be fully finished while the Prinsendam is under way.
The addition of the staterooms aft will expand the pool deck to allow for more deck chairs and the new bar.

Phoenix Reisens Amera, the former Prinsendam, is undergoing extensive refurbishment at Blohm+Voss in Germany.
According to the German brand, they are turning her into a real Phoenix Reisen ship.
In addition to the usual shipyard work, all cabins will be redone and many public rooms partially or completely redesigned.
The Amera Restaurant on Deck 7 (boardwalk deck) and the big bars on Deck 7 and Deck 8 (Salon Deck) get a completely new lookAlso, the restaurant, which in the future carries the name "Pichlers" receives a clear Phoenix upgrade and on deck 12 (panorama deck), the outdoor area is redesigned for golf practice.
The Amera originally entered service as the Royal Viking Sun in 1988, before becoming the Seabourn Sun and then the Prinsendam.
She was launched in 1988 as Royal Viking Sun for the Royal Viking Line, and was renamed Seabourn Sun when Seabourn Cruise Line acquired the ship in 1999. In 2002, Seabourn wished to concentrate on smaller vessel and transferred the ship to Holland America Line, which was renamed as Prinsendam. On 12 August 2019 she left Hamburg to Bremenhaven for her first cruise on 16 August 2019 with Phoenix.
It's no secret that Phoenix many times has been active to get the ship in its possession. Has no aft bowthruster but small propellor.
