ANDERS

ANDERS

Norwegian steamship ANDERS of 1916, Dutch built. Mined and torpedoed in 1940 with 13 casualties. More info here: https://www.wrecksite.eu/wreck.aspx?11077

What is the exact location of the photo? I have seen several other ships photos with the same bridge in the background.

Clifton Suspension Bridge spanning the Avon Gorge and the River Avon, linking Clifton in Bristol to Leigh Woods in North Somerset. Looking through the photographs in this link will help you get a good orientation. https://bristolcitydocks.co.uk/***berland-basin/

She's proceeding with pilot tug, approaching the quay just downstream from the lock entrance to the Bristol floating harbour. Sometimes it was necessary to moor up to await sufficient water for locking operations. The tidal range can be as much as 12 metres.
