Wouldn't she be painted crabfat grey during the war?
The soldier looks like U.S. or Canadian infantry.

He looks to be wearing a Kiwi hat and think she called Auckland to pick up a N.Z., Division for the Western Desert in early part of 1940 and she had'nt been fully painted Grey by then, Later in the war she was totally Grey and according to reports was one of the most heavily armed troopship[s afloat and included a large number of Depth Charges.
