this brings back some memories,after calling in to Takoradi to pick up logs for the trip home,then the job to get up forward, clambering over all those logs with the odd big bloody spider staring at you.wouldn't let you do it now health and safety.

A wonderful set of pictures Ken. This one taken from the boat deck. I note on one of the afterdeck photos you can see the catwalk built by chippy so that the greasers and stewards could access the accomodation and engineroom. It was also osual for chipy to build a catwalk on the foredeck to allow safe access to the forecastle and forecastle head. Palm Line chippy's always took great pride in their catwalks.

Hi Ken. Found your shot of the Katsina - very impressive. Try climbing a crane today, even if you were a member of the crew, and you would be arrested! Life was so much simpler fifty years ago.
