ANGLO AUSTRALIAN

Launched on 21 March 1927 by Short Bros. Ltd., Sunderland as a 5456 ton quadruple expansion steamer for Nitrate Producers SS Co. Ltd. and managed by Lawther, Latta and Co. Ltd.
On 14 March 1936 she was on voyage from Cardiff to Vancouver in ballast and was in wireless communication when passing Fayal, Azores. Nothing more was ever heard of her and she was posted missing with all hands at Lloyds on 11 May 1938.

Thanks for that link. Very interesting reading indeed. Spare a thought for those unfortunate souls cast into the water in a severe storm with very little hope of rescue.
