The Portuguese passenger-cargo liner Angola (4), 167m/12.975gt, completed 21/12/1948 by R. & W. Hawthorn, Leslie & Co. Ltd, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, for Companhia Nacional de Navegação, Lisbon, for its Portugal, Angola, South Africa and Mozambique service; few trips as trooping ship;1969 funnel colours altered from black to blue, top and base black, with two white bands and in 1971/72, due company amalgamation with Sociedade Geral, the blue colour was slightly enlarged and the hull changed from light grey to light blue; 30/12/1973 in her last trip, in Lourenço Marques disembarked part of her crew, which return to Lisbon by the Principe Perfeito and she bound to Huallen, Taiwan, for breaking up. Sister ship Moçambique.
Seen making rotation working, assisted by Tug Tritão at Leixões dock no.1 on the 12/01/1949, her maiden trip.

Seen making "rotation working" you say, to me that looks like scraping her bow along the wharf with a great crowd in attendance. There can't have been that much clearing anyway. Regards, Stein.
