Worst damage to a 270 crank I have seen. From 6 through to outrigger damage found, cam bearing all wiped as were the gear trin bushes.
Cause: Lube oil pump gearwheel can loose on the shaft - starvation of oil.

Certainly got a bit of bearing "pick up" there. Doxfordman
Do the big ends run on white metal bearings.
Is that crack testing dye I see on the inner journals.

Is that babbit I see in the crankpit? Not a good day for a few engineers.

Nah , actually a high speed engine - 1000RPM - 7.3 mW, thin wall shell bearings. Yes die pen on the journals, tram lines were really deep - over 075 - 1.2mm deep. Crank was soft and could not be re used - not a Doxford crank eh!
