Anson and captured tuna

Anson and captured tuna

Anson in the Tasman Sea in March 1974. She was used to dump jarosite from the Zinc Works near Hobart off the continental shelf off Tasmania. The crew snared a line from a Japanese tuna boat and this is what they hauled up while trying to disentangle the line - a large and very expensive tuna!

Walter,

Did the Japanese know that they were catching Tuna over a chemical dumping ground?

Hi Frank
They may not have caught the tuna in exactly the area where the Anson dumped the jarosite. I hope not.
Cheers!

Reminds me of the "gravy boats" that used to operate out of the Thames. It wasn't jarosite of course :)
