We dont really use a single stripe:

2 stripes are boy/apprentice
3 are mate
4 captain

Seriously I can understand what you are saying, I am Master of Havengore and trying to get on the piers when every boat on the Thames want's to get on the same pier at the same time it's a bit like dodgem cars.
We should meet up sometime.

Sure is Chris,especially with the Pridela on a windy day! Now thats a challenge...once the wind catches her,she pins to the pier.
