Bank Line (Andrew Weir)'s 1959 Belfast built ASHBANK is seen passing Portishead, inbound for Avonmouth exactly fifty years ago, on 20th May 1969.

Later: 1976 NEWCREST

Laid up River Fal on 18.2.82

sailed Falmouth 2.2.83 under tow of tug Faneca bound for breakers at Aviles.

broke tow on 7.2.83 and wrecked on Santa Catalina Peninsula, Gijon.

One of 17 built at Harland & Wolff, Belfast between 1957 and 1961. Variations in tonnage, funnels etc. as the class evolved. Good workhorses in both Weir's liner services and the charter market.
