Was the ship a 'trading' ship or was she just a cadet ship?

Both functions. Mainly trading ship, but it also shipowners were involved in training for they own crew and nautical students.

An incredibly long career of this ship. From 1909 to 1973.

Have another information about the story of this ship.
Built in 1909 by William Graye in West Hartlepool, ordered by Sota y Aznar.
Her first name was Eretza-Mendi and replaced to Ama Begoñakoa as school vessel, being on 1917 replaced by the Artagan-Mendi, later renamed as Monte Nuria.
With her drawings were built by Euskalduna in Bilbao two sister ships: Gorbea-Mendi and Umbe-Mendi.
