She was requisitioned for Falklands War in 1982 and arrived in the operational area 13/5/1982.
She was hit by an exocet missle on the 25/5/1982,which like the one that hit HMS Sheffield did not explode, but caused fires which resulted in both ships being lost. Her Master was trying to put the stern to the missle, which possibly would have saved the vessel if the exocet had hit the vehicle ramp.
Her sister vessel Atlantic Causeway arrived in operational area the day she was lost.
