ATREUS

Another one of my old ships. I can't decipher the captain's name in my discharge book, but I remember the bosun was Jack Cleary. A mountain of a man from Wicklow.
The location is South 1 Gladstone dock, Liverpool. I recognise the roof crane on top of the 3 story shed. These cranes had to be anchored down because a strong Westerly would blow them along the roof with no way of stopping them until they hit the buffers.

ATREUS was photographed in July 1977, having arrived from Labuan on 29th June. By October 1977 she had been transferred to Elder Dempster service and painted with a yellow funnel.
