This is the Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha ('K' Line) contribution to the ESS (Eastern Searoad Service, an Australian National Line (ANL)/'K' Line joint venture) between Australia and Japan, begun in 1967. This is the Japanese flag container/vehicle-deck vessel "Australian Searoader", commissioned after the lead vessel "Australian Enterprise" (ANL - August 1969 Australian flag) and joined by a third vessel "Matthew Flinders" Australian flag, in 1970.
