BAKALA

BAKALA

The Ivory Coast flagged BAKALA was photographed by the late Dick Parsons, presumably at Antwerp.

Built by Cockerill at Hoboken, Belgium, in 1947 for Chargeurs Reunis of Le Havre, she was lengthened in 1960 but transferred to Soc. Iviorienne, of Abidjan, in around 1966.

In 1969, Greek buyers minimised repainting costs by renaming her PAKALA. She arrived at Gandia on 13.3.74 to be broken up.

IT is not Antwerpen but le Havre, the other ship on the picture is the Louis Lumiere; both ships were before property of compagnie maritime des chargeurs reunis.
