Hello Alan
A good one of the Ballyhaft in Kelly colours. Captain Bob Gibson was master and Brian McEvoy mate for many years . Brian was eventually given command of other vessels years later. Bob's father was awarded the M.B.E. for services in the 1914-1918 War, in command of the Carnalea.
Bob himself in command of the Parknasilla was mentioned in the London Gazette on the 14th April 1942 ,as being commended for Brave Conduct in early 1942. Alan forgive me if you already have this information. I have just mentioned it as I remember Bob so well, he was a great man I can still see his smile. Bob was also commended for bravery when master of the Inishtrahull in July 1941.
