Hi, Stephen,
What a brilliant painting and a surprise as I was 'Chippy' on her between the 26/06/62 and 08/10/62 we were on the Great Lakes runs but the first crossing of the 'pond' was one hell of a crossing for bad weather for a small 3,500 tonner.
Ah! Do you know Allan Davidson? I thin he was 3rd Mate in BEECHMORE, not sure what year. Probably not with you because I have seen some of his photos of the ship in freezing weather and your dates for 1962 and were not winter months.
Sorry Stephen I do not recall the name of the 3rd, and yes I think she 'wintered' in the Med / Black Sea area's.
One thing I remember was she was a motor ship but all steam on deck winches and windlass and if the crew were topping derricks as I manned the windlass I didn't get much steam to operate it, only very slow. But good memories of her and the Great Lakes.
Regards,
Robin.
