BELGIQUE

This ship was built by Cockerill with the intention to supervise on the Schelde at Antwerp.

She had a total lenght of 48 m and 6.50 m width. The 1130 HP engine could reach a speed of 15 knots.

In January 1865 the Belgique offered help to the ferry Samphire from the Dover-Calais route as she had a collision with an American vessel leaving the port of Dover.
She could rescue all crew and passengers and towed the damaged Samphire back into Dover port.

As the vessel did not seem to suitable enough for the North sea crossings between Dover and Ostend, it was decided to return her for her original purpose, supervision on the Schelde.

During WWI the ship transported ammunition between Southampton and Le Havre.

She was dismantled in 1923.
