Was this the vessel that sustained severe bow damage during a storm? I think her bow and foredeck was set down about 5 metres, it looked like she ran into a wall!

There is a better version of this without the white specks!!!
She was indeed the one that sustained severe damage after being struck by a wave off the South African coast.

Good photo was that when she was converted from steam to motor. I cannot remember correctly if she was converted but I know the container ships were converted as the price of oil rose.

She did break her back, at the step down from the no.1 hatch. No.1 contained deep tanks with latex solution which proceeded to contaminate the Durban fishermen's nets before she was towed backwards to Holland for repair. Agreat ship, spent 18 months on her.

One of my mates at work sailed on this ship, he was an engineer, his name is Ron Blacklaws, ring any bells ?.
