Built 1943 by Furness Shipbuilding Co Ltd, Haverton Hill-on-Tees for Ministry of War Transport (T & J Brocklebank as managers) as EMPIRE REGENT.
1946-BLACK PRINCE; 1949-ZEALANDIC; 1952-BEAVERLODGE; 1960-BENHIANT; 1970-VENUS (Cyprus flag).
1971-to breakers at Kaohsiung, Taiwan, delivered 16/7.

My brother sailed on her in 1969 and I made a few visits onboard her while she was in Bangkok for 10 days.

Nice one as usual , Barny. Were'mt these what the M.O.W.T., designated 'Fast Cargo Liner' types , the British equivalent of the U.S., built 'Victory" ? Remember her well, both out East and in the U.K.,
