BHC SR N6 which operated from Southampton to Cowes. Seen at Cowes after my first and only trip on a hovercraft. You could'nt see much for the spray or hear
much either! Went back on the Red Funnels Carisbrooke Castle
HELLO BARNY !
Lovely photo.
I have been sending you messages about some other matters, could you have a look at your PM's on this site please - I would be really grateful for your help on something.
Kind regards,
As this hover isn't in the Sealink 'Seaspeed' colours was the service at this time operated by a subsidery of BHC?
Intersting to see the BHC hangar doors without the Union Jack scheme.
Wonderful picture. Would love to see more photo's of the old Cowes-Southampton service. My first memory of hovercraft is 1982 when Tenacity first arrived at Ryde and we all marvelled at how quiet she was next to the SRN6 hover Freedom. I was only a small lad but remember the noise and smell!
I can remember seeing Sea Hawk on what was the old pad at Cowes at some point in the early 80s. Would be great to see some photo's of the Southampton terminal too....
Interesting to see one of the Castle class ships unloading over the slipway at East Cowes too!
