BISMILLAH

BISMILLAH

Looking through some of the photos donated to the Clyde Shiplovers Society I came across this very smart Fred Olsen ship taken I'm sure on the Thames.
She was built by the Aker yard in Oslo in 1950 and had a sad end in 1978 when as MARINA K she sank following an engine room explosion.

Fairfield - Remember her well running into the East India Dock , London . Think she was on the Levante service . As to location I would hazard a guess and say she just rounded Higham Bight and getting ready to change Channel Pilot for the River Pilot off Gravesend. She's a good proportioned ship and the large funnel suits her well(Thumb)

Thanks for that- I wasn't too sure if it was the Thames or not.

A little add to this cargo: she was on voyage from Galatz to Lagos loaded 1300 tons of tomato paste.
The crew was saved.
