These are essential volumes for the detail of the Battle of the Atlantic ...the bottom left hand is the one by Gunter hessler .. Doenitz son .. commisioned by the RN after the war ... written entirly without the knowlege that the Allies had cracked the Enigma code....interesting as you see how the Germans made their decisions and the effect.
To the contrary Paul, 27 of them!! ....top right hand shelf ...the one I did not post the detail of of course ..I'll add that this morning ..
Another book which I recently laid my grubby little mitts on which people may not be aware of is from the Civil Histories of WW II titled ..'Merchant shipping and the demands of war ..HMSO by a lady C.B.A. Behrens. This one deals with all the various aspects of the logistics of getting ships, including how those of the countries overun by the Nazis were taken into the fold, the deals that were done and the methods used to persuade them to join the Allies ...how they were paid ...the building and repair ...and so on ... aspects of the war not often dealt with at all.
