HI Jan

I have a print of the original of this photograph it was sent to me by a member of Groninger Kustvaart maybe it was you?. I was very ill at the time and maybe not as grateful as I should have been but morphine does funny things to the mind. I have the original articles for this ship and the first owners are listed as Baltische & Overzeese Scheepvaart. Mij Rotterdam but she may have been managed by P.A Van Es & Co, she always seemed to have a Dutch connection when my family bought her she was chartered to Dammers VDH thanks for the post.

Hello Robbie.
No, it wasn't me who have sent you the photo.
I had her in the P.A. van Es map so maybe at one time, years ago, I must have found out that she was chartered by that club or mayby I had just put it there.I have been looking but can't found anything about that.
So I have changed her to the Dammers v.d H. map and that's info from you..thanks.
Regards,
Jan.

Hello Robbie / Jan,

Bosco was built fao Messrs. P.A. van Es ( Messrs. Van Ommeren Rotterdam ) for their Red Sea trade. Lührs family purchased vessel from P.A. van Es and renamed vessel "Vaterland".
I met vessel several times ( '71-'74 ) when passing locks of Terneuzen on her way to Ghent. She did a linercharter together with ms Seabreeze UK ports/Ghent/Antwerp v.v. Which charter I don't know.
I changed end 1974 Terneuzen for Dammers en van der Heide Rotterdam where their own vessels Santa Maria and Niña did Dammers Ireland Lines. After those vessels were sold end 70ties the Vaterland and Nanna appeared as longterm timechartered vessels in the Dammers Ireland Lines. Also the Hella Schaa, but that vessel just for a while. Damers Ireland lines "passed the way" because of poor management and not willing to change to containerline as their competitor Holland Ireland Lines ( Hudig & Veder ) did.

Dammers Ireland was poorly managed is an understatement, I think anybody who was involved knows the truth which I will not go into but in the end it cost my family its charter and livelyhood
