After the war despite the many sacrifices made by KPM personell and despite of the racist policies of the then Australian Govs the wharfies decided to boycott Dutch ships because the Dutch wanted to keep Indonesia as a colony (1946 and 1947). The wharfies completely ignoring the British colonial empire. The wharfies also stopped coal from being delivered to the ships caught in Brisbane.

KPM then send a ship with coal and crew, Dutch and Indonesian, transhipped the coal. Then without pilots the ships sailed much to the consternation of the lefties. This picture taken at the time of departure. The other picture with 3 ships was taken back in Indonesia after return, the three sailing in convoy.

There was much bitterness against Australian wharfies at the time as many KPM personel lost their lives in WW2 helping defend Australia.
