Hi Marsat. NIce gallery! With a pic of the Meeching, a Rowbotham tanker and pix of Brighton, you might well have known my late father, Frank Gilbert (or even my brother Barry). Dad was with Rowbotham at the time you were back in 59, then moved to Newhaven and became skipper of the Meeching (see my comments on the Ostend photo). My brother then became 2nd engineer on Brighton.
2 points, this pic of Brighton is, I believe, her maiden arrival but it\'s actually at Dieppe - check the design of the lighthouse on the harbour arm, just behind the aft mast. This was in 195 or 51, but she was launched on 7/10/49.
Re: Oarsman - isn\'t this a later Oarsman than 59. My father was captain on the newest addition - Quarterman - at the time and this design is more modern than her.
