A really interesting post Threebs ..... shows just how decadent British shipbuilding was ...if only they had taken to prefab, modern staging, covered yards and so on ...things foreign yards were doing. Mind the unions were pretty decadent too and held to long standing traditions.

Just look at those long ladders poking up from the tanks in the tanker building alongside....imagine what it would have been like climbing up and down those especially if you had to get out or be taken out in an emergency .... !!!!

I agree. I contracted two ships in British yards.

They had learned nothing about how to build ships and forgotten nothing about how to rip off the customer.

That goes for every man jack of them, from apprentice to Chairman of the Board.

I sailed on the British Duke,I wonder
if they were "sister" ships ?.
