Broken Box..

Broken Box..

The box from whence the aforementioned chain had come.
After consulting the manifest it became apparent that there were no less than 4 other containers with the same cargo - all of which was unsecured.

The box to the right does not look much better. See where the container prefix has been painted out. This indicates it is a "phased out" unit. With the remaining information on the door it would have previously been a Maersk 20' Open Top.

Hi Steve,

What gives you this idea about the state of this box? It doesn't look to bad to me .And how do you know it's Maersk, just by the DK ?

Jack

There's several old TRITON reefers there too.
The old Sea Containers GP box looks like she has seen better days, see how the door locking cams have sheared off the R/H door. What ever was the cargo came out in a hurry. The door locking bars are still in these closed position including the seals.

Tom,
The cargo which 'came out in a hurry' is pictured here: http://www.shipsnostalgia.com/gallery/showphoto.php/photo/226674/title/things-that-go-bang-in-the-morning/cat/528

As for the state and age of the containers, it's nothing but the best of stuff for the MOD!
