Well TMac, they are indeed "lady boys", but the local name in Singa's was Kye-Tye, don't know where the name originated tho'.
Incidentally, the name "Bugis" ( which everybody mispronounced "Boogie") originates not from Singapore but from across the water in Sulawesi, Indonesia. Any of you remember the magnificent cargo sailing ships that used to ply the waters around Indonesia?
Don't know if it was the correct term, but we used to call them Bugis Schooners. Regards,Rick
