Caledonian Macbrayne/s SATURN

Completed by Ailsa at Troon in 1978, SATURN was the last of the trio of car and passenger ferries to operate on Caledonian Macbrayne/s Upper and Lower Firth of Clyde ferry services.
She joined 1974 built JUNO and JUPITER which ran between Gourock and Dunoon, SATURN taking over the Wemyss Bay to Rot

Great pics of the Saturn. She and her two sisters have been good servants to Cal Mac since being 'Clyde built' in the seventies. No doubt coming to the end of their careers on the Clyde but I,m sure like their predecessors they will continue to work for a few years morein sunnier climes when they are sold off.

Sadly I've never been on the streakers but I only hear praise for them. Now I'm in Glasgow I'll have to go see them for myself before they are replaced.

Wonderful shot. It makes me homesick. I used to ride on these ferries over to Dunoon. I remember when the Yanks were at the Holy Loch, they were always full of American sailors heading for Glasgow and back.
