Nice to see its still standing, thought it may well have been pulled down by now.

Cant remember the gray sheds in background, as I recall this area was a muddy swamp. I used to park where the car is in the shot, but a rather grand lady, not sure of her authority, used to come down and try to chase the cars parked as per in the photos, there is a pay park further up the road beside the chalets, or at least the owners used to come and try to make me pay. Ideal shot for ships entering Southampton

You can now park officially on the waters edge subject to the purchase of a permit so no irate lady of unknown authority. The buildings behind the Coatsguard Tower house the Lifeboat station. The grey buildings in the far distance I believe are part of the Fawley power station complex. As you say a great place for ship photography and one which attracts a fairly large number of like minded enthusiasts.
