These are stated to be locals fishing in their own seas around the Maldives - why should they be ashamed of this ?

That was my point John - i was asking the chap who posted the comment ' Shame on you' who he was aiming this comment at !
In his opinion they are an endangered species, but are they on a localised fishery basis in the Maldives ?
I dont see that local fishermen have any reason to feel ashamed of anything if they are fishing in their own waters to sustain local requirements.
The poster implied that they should be ashamed. If the picture showed a large foreign tuna boat fishing in Maldive waters then i may agree.

Never ceases to amaze me the amount of people that think they are experts on the state of the oceans based on misinformation by the so called "con-servationists".

Couldnt agree more bluesjunior. Sitting in offices and universities miles from the sea, many of these so called conservationists are nothing more than ideological do-gooders with little experience of the real world and what actual happens in the oceans. Come across many in my job and to say that they p*** me off is putting it mildly !

They look like the non-endangered yellow fin tuna to me - But what do I know, I'm not a conservationist.
