The Charlton Star was one of several ships engaged by the U.K. Government to transport migrants, at a very low cost, to Australia in the early 1950's.
I would love to know if anyone has any memories of either this ship, or of the Captain Cook, which was another of such ships that frequently calle

Surely, there must be many, in Australia and New Zealand, who would have memories of the beginnings of such a dramatic change in their lives, for many were just children at the time!

Surely, surely, surely there must be somebody who has memories of emigrating to Australia in this ship: she must have carried thousands!
She was a regular, through Aden, during my two years there.
