Happy New Year Coop,
thanks for posting these, real historic value now ... I don't think anybody builds ships in two halves these days. Do they ?

Certainly not the Japanese, Koreans or even the Chinese.

Time was when it was the norm but now, building docks and manufacturing techniques have become so advanced that there is no necessity.

How times change!

Talking of building docks I remember being in Lisnave's ( Lisbon) biggest drydock on a 317,00 dwt. Shell tanker. Sharing the same dock was an 18,000 ton bulker. Not only was there room to spare , but the top of the bulkers mainmast was not even level with our maindeck!

Regards,
Patalavaca
