Ben,

Ex Admiralty girl class tug - see the drawing of the 'Afon Cefni' in my gallery for a sister ship - but which 'Chiefton'? Sorry, can't find any info on her.

Or is this the one ?

72 GRT
1 scr, diesel, 720bhp, bp 10t

FILIP
1930: Built by "Lundby Mekaniske Verksted" at Goteborg (SWE)
1930: delivered to "Roda Aktiebolaget" at Goteborg (SWE)
19xx: renamed CHIEF
1994: To ?? (GBR)
199x: To Mike Baker at Southampton (GBR)
199x: To Paul & Julian Branford at London (GBR)
2004: To "Griffin Towage" (Jon Eveleigh) at Portland (GBR), refit and overhauled for towing service
2004 -xx/10: renamed CHIEFTON
2005 -xx/03: overhauled, modernised
2005 -xx/06: To "Guy Baker Marine" at Southampton (GBR) (parts extruded for the WESTERN ROCK, ex KAPITÄN ENGLER ??)

1994 came to UK (seen at Ramsgate and on the Thames as houseboat/yacht) - owner??
Then is a gap until she is acquired my a Mike Baker from unknown owners, perhaps as a swap for WESTERN ROCK, ex KAPITÄN ENGLER
Mike Baker sold CHIEF to Paul & Julian Branford - presumably at Southampton (GBR)

Thameswatcher,

She is definitely an ex RMAS tug. Riverman's post shows their details and checking my (various) books, she is likely to be the 'Barbara'.

My drawing of a sister ship is here:
