The stability problems were solved by adding a ballast tank above the open cargo deck next to the funnels. By the time theses vessels were ready for delivery, EWL were in financial difficulties and tried all sorts of things to try to not take delivery and thereby avoid having to pay for the two ships. Smiths Dock, determined to get their money solved all of the problems, but EWL could no longer pay. The vessels were eventually sold to a Canadian company.

Yes both ships were sold to Oceanex, and were on Canada routes, from St John's. I think Cavallo was lengthened later on? Cicero was sold to Aegean Cargo, and was renamed Aegean Fantasy. She is a very nice vessel inside, but her accomodation has narrow stairs! Many thanks Paul, for the great photo, again!

About the Jacqueline, little I found on the net. She was built in 1983, and was under Brasilian flag. She was scrapped in 2004 at Alang, after being laid up for about 10 years!

She also sailied Immingham-Rotterdam for a while on the Tor Line service whilst they awaited new tonnage such as Tor Dania and Tor Caldedonia..
