City of Canberra was Commodore ship of convoy ON 166 which left
the Clyde in February 1943.
I was AB in Cape Howe begining her maiden voyage in that convoy.
A few hours after sailing we returned to the Clyde to land an injured AB.
We sailed later in convoy ON 169.
ON 166 was attacked by many U boats and 14 ships were sunk including
the Rescue ship Stockport - lost with all crew...
Much information about the slaughter of ships was sent to me by
Arthur Austin - he was a Radio Officer in City of Canberra.
