This fine looking ship was built in 1959 by Alexander Stephen at Linthouse, Glasgow. At 541 feet long with a beam of 71 feet she seemed to look larger than her 9914 gross tons. Her Stephen - Sulzer 12RSAD76 engine developed a maximum of 15,400 bhp with a normal output of 14,000 bhp that gave a service speed of 17 knots. She was the fourth and last ship built by Stephens for Ellerman since 1946. Built for the Australian trade she was transferred to South African trade and renamed City of Capetown in 1968. Sold to Singapore owners and renamed Ota Gold in 1978 she was broken up a year later at Kaohsiung.
