They were called 'Later Chants' (Coastal & Harbour Auxiliary Naval Transport)The Candourity and two others were converted from dry cargo to tankers and lengthened. The bridges removed in one lump and rigged amidships. See here:-

Candourity. Commodity and Conformity. City herself underwent the transformation but I believe the bridge stayed in the same place!
