Houston Line's 1944 Greenock built CLAN MACDOUGALL is seen berthed at Cardiff on 23rd July 1971, exactly fifty years ago today.

She was soon sold to breakers via intermediaries which named her VRYSI for a final voyage from London, sailing on 7th October 1971. She arrived at Kaohsiung by 8.12.71

I remember dropping off a C-2 from Columbia Steamship Company in Kaohsiung around this same time. It was a sad day indeed as it seemed like the entire Merchant Marine I'd known was in port to be cut up.
