Clan Macinnes

Clan Macinnes

Clan Macinnes lies at London's Royal Albert Dock 15 July 1973. Of 6,517 Gr tons she was built in 1952 by Greenock Dockyard to join the very substantial fleet of Clan Line.

Her clean lines and beautiful proportions enable even the heavy lift gear to be absorbed into the profile without offense to the eye. One of the very best in my opinion.

Did a coastal trip on her in 1973, think I joined in Millwall docks. Nice enough vessel but Clan Line were not keeping abreast of the times as they started the big run down of their owned vessels, still wooden hatch boards, no electric topping winches, no A.C!

The later builds had A/C when the new 4 holds forward and 1 aft vessels were on the scene but I preferred the ex passenger ships as the cabins were great and had a bath and toilet!

Favourite was Argyllshire.
