Smith's like most ship repair yards had a number of Tug Type Work boats which were mainly used for taking the workforce to ships that were under repair/mtce away from the yard as well as small towing jobs that the larger Tugs didn't handle, one or two had welding sets on the towing deck . Looking for a photo of Willy Gray's workboats's (Hartlepool and Graythorpe) which were either ex ASR launches or MTB's, one named Gray Goose

I am amazed to learn that she will soon be a centenarian !.
It would be interesting to see earlier photos of her.She must be unrecognisable as she was when built. ?

Dear Scorcher - what happened? We were running late and arrived off Gravesend @ 1615, I phoned the number you called on and it was answered by a chap who said your phone had gone down and that you had borrowed his.....I sent my son in on the the speedboat to look for you but a man on the pier said you had gone to the seafront. He looked for you for about ten mins. but had to leave as I had gone on in Cob.......hope you are not too upset - we can organise it better next time - this time downriver in August???? Please give me a call - James
