The Conformity was one of five C class Admiralty coal lighters purchased by Everards , lengthened and converted to trunk deck tankers, the wheelhouses were moved amidships, this with the ability to lower the foremast and funnel, considerably reduced their airdraft which made them suitable for up river work.
