Think I can read CYMRIC on port bridge wing. Had four sisters - Cedric, Cretic, Canopic and Carnatic. Built 1953. Renamed Durango in 1972, Scrapped Taiwan 1975. I had a happy trip on the Cretic from Dec 72 to Feb 73 - London to Rio, Santos, Montevideo, BA and return. Captain JJ Rutter and co. (Royal Mail men).

A good class of ship. I was on the Cretic as 2nd Refrig in 1966 then 4th Engineer in 1967.

Just love those Doxfords. Easy to flog the log on those engines. Just had to trick the chief with the fuel consumption.

Just pity the 2nd Eng was such a bugger otherwise I would have stayed a little longer on her.

Got married instead

The Cretic was the only one with Doxfords of that group of five. The rest had Harlands.
