She would have had a single mast that could be laid down on top of the wheelhouse when built. Got the tripod when she was fitted with the trawl winch which is sitting over the original mast step
I don't know if she would have had a mizzen on her when built but that means nothing as this design was being built from the 50's onwards so it would look good on her
The Shemariah FR245 ( http://www.shipsnostalgia.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=60699 ) was the 30ft version and I think she did have a mizzen when built
ive seen pictures of te boyne vale with the mizzen mast in front of the wheelhouse i dont like the looks of it ,i would rather have it behind the wheelhouse even if it ment it the mizzen was sticking out by the stern a bit
You could have a movable pole for the sail Chris , same set up as a bowsprit has just through a metal ring and firmly fixed to the rail , would only need to go out 4ft , put a running block on the end for the bottom of the sail and your sorted
ahh good idea davie,as you say i dont think she was built with a mast but her design would defo suit it and its a shame lerwick is so far away because the mast of the shemariah is just lying beside where the morning star used to sit and its just going to waste
